Oren Outdoor’s Campfire Roaster

 

Ingredients

4 tablespoons butter, softened

¼ cup vegetable oil

½ cup granulated sugar

⅓ cup brown sugar

1 ½ teaspoons baking powder

¼ teaspoon baking soda

¾ teaspoon table salt

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 ⅔ cups all-purpose flour

1 cup milk


Step 1: Mix

In a bowl, mix the butter, vegetable oil, and sugars until smooth. Add the eggs after, beating to combine.


Step 2: Add Dry Ingredients

Stir in the baking powder, baking soda, salt, and vanilla. After that, slowly stir the flour into the butter mixture along with the milk, making sure everything is combined and thick enough to form dough balls.


Step 3: Dough Balls

Spoon the dough into balls roughly 1.5 inches thick. 


Step 4: Roast Donut Holes

Place 1-5 donut holes on the skewer. Place the roaster and skewer directly in the fire. Cook the donut holes over the fire, slowly rotating the skewer to evenly cook them. Rotate for 6-10 minutes, or until fully cooked.


Step 5: Serve

Take the roaster and skewer out of the fire and place it safely on the ground. Safely take the donut holes off the skewer. Optional** coat the donut holes with cinnamon sugar once done roasting.
